About Me
Welcome to my technology blog!
My name is Brooke Breit and I teach 7th and 8th grade Communications at School District 109 in Justice, IL. I have been teaching since 2008, all in District 109. I previously taught Social Studies and Spanish and am very active in my district. I am a team leader, tech innovator, speech team coach, and tech club sponsor. Along with being the Communications teacher I am also a 'tech coach' for part of the day. I am a certified Google Trainer and love exploring resources to help enhance curriculum. Our school transitioned to 1:1 this year. This has been an exciting challenge that I took on and use my 'Tech Ninja' team to help make this transition smooth. Students do not currently take their devices home, but 1:1 has proven a time safer! My classroom is actually a computer lab and my Communication class centers around writing, research, and presenting so we constantly use the Google Apps for Education. New Google Sites is my favorite app to use with students. They love creating and sharing material using their sites because it's easy and looks so professional! I'm not a certified technology specialist yet, which is the reason I'm taking the endorsement courses at University of St. Francis I hope to fulfill the requirements of a Technology Specialist and become a full time Technology Coach.

Nice to meet you Brooke! You have quite a bit of background in this area! I am on the opposite end of the learning continuum when it comes to technology, so I'm excited to learn from you.
ReplyDeleteNice to meet you! It is going to be interesting reading everything that you post since we are complete opposites. I can not wait to learn some more!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you in class again! :) We're also going 1:1 next year, so I'm excited to take this course.
ReplyDeleteBrooke,
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun blog name! Your school is so lucky to have you with the variety of skills and interests you are willing to invest in your school. I am working on my Tech endorsement but became the Instructional Technology Coach for my district this year as I complete the endorsement. I'm looking forward to learning with you throughout this course!
Brooke,
ReplyDeleteHow exciting that your school has gone 1:1 this year! This is my 2nd year in a 1:1 classroom, but my district has been 1:1 for several years. I love the experiences that it provides for my students. I look forward to learning more about your role as a technology coach and learning from you during this course!
Brooke nice to meet you! I too hope to become a tech coach in the future. My district has tech coaches and I cannot begin to count the number of times I have worked with them to enhance a lesson. It has been so much fun to see my kids engage in their learning using technology.

Hi Brooke!
ReplyDeleteIt was great to read about your educational experiences with 7th and 8th graders especially in Communications - this is such a foundational set of skills! I believe, too, that technology can especially assist them and that we can reach them in so many more ways than without it. I LOVE Google Sites, too...soooo easy and you're right, they look GREAT!
Welcome to our Engaging eLearning course! I look forward to this journey as a class and am glad you are part of it.
